Google review rating & velocity calculator
Calculate the arithmetic behind a review-rating target using exact star counts or a range from a rounded public rating. Compare an assumed pace of new feedback and a hypothetical platform-approved removal. This tool cannot predict Google’s display, manufacture positive reviews or determine which reviews Google will remove.

Start with the review response and reporting playbook to separate service recovery, honest feedback requests and eligible policy reports before modeling a rating.
Model a scenario, not a promise.
Your illustrative scenario.
Inputs stay in this tab. No calculator values are submitted or saved.
Use only genuine feedback. The pace assumes every new review is five stars, which is a scenario, not an instruction to filter customers, buy reviews or incentivize a rating. Genuine criticism is not automatically removable. Google decides reports. A target actual mean differs from a displayed rounded rating.
How this calculator works.
For total score S, count N and target T below five: new five-star reviews = max(0, ceil((T × N − S) ÷ (5 − T))). Hypothetical removal of R reviews at star value V subtracts R × V from S and R from N. Rounded inputs use integer-compatible totals within a nearest-tenth interval; Google’s actual display or weighting may differ. Weeks = required reviews ÷ entered weekly pace.
The funnel measurement guide explains why a visible rating and a recorded business outcome are different measures. Link approved case records using the CRM field-ownership checklist; a missing CRM match does not prove that a review is false.
| Choice | Useful when | Boundary to check |
|---|---|---|
| Exact counts | Known score and count | Arithmetic is exact; platform outcomes are not. |
| Rounded rating | Unknown underlying score | Use the displayed interval, not a false exact average. |
| Review operations | Actual customer experiences | Resolve service issues; request honest feedback without rating gates. |
A worked example.
With exact counts of 10 one-star, 5 two-star, 10 three-star, 25 four-star and 50 five-star reviews, the mean is 4.0 across 100 reviews. Reaching an actual 4.5 mean requires 100 additional five-star reviews. A public 4.2 across 100 reviews instead gives a modeled range of 52–70 new five-star reviews under nearest-tenth rounding.
These figures demonstrate the formula. They are not client results or delivery commitments.
If staff time is part of the review workflow, use the automation capacity planner to include human review and exceptions. Compare acquisition assumptions separately in the lead-funnel calculator; a modeled rating change does not predict sales.
Use the result to scope the next step.
The AI automation guide describes bounded drafting and human handoff. Apply the recovery and access checks to case records, and use the build-or-buy comparison before commissioning a dedicated platform. Our Google review management and AI workflow automation services can scope these operating responsibilities.
